Overview

The District is governed by a nine-member Board of Commissioners. The individual districts appoint the Board Members and determine the length of their term. 

History

The Belvedere Tiburon Joint Recreation Committee, also known as "The Ranch", was established in June 1975 between the City of Belvedere and the Town of Tiburon. The goal of the partnership was to create a recreation committee dedicated to administering and operating recreation programs for residents of Belvedere and Tiburon. The purpose of creating a separate creation public entity was to ensure that recreation services for the Tiburon Pennisula residents would be supported by participant fees rather than subsidized by tax dollars. The Belvedere Tiburon Recreation Committee now offers over 500 classes and serves nearly 12,000 participants annually.
